Baxter's Bootcamp is a professional dog training company. We offer lesson packages and a 2-week board and train option for our clients. We specialize in obedience and behavior modification training.
Baxter's Bootcamp is located in Oviedo, Florida. For lessons, we service clients all over Central Florida. For the board and train, we service clients all throughout the state who are willing to make the trip.
We accept any age (over 5 months old), size, or breed. Dogs that struggle with aggressive tendencies will have to be evaluated before being accepted. If a trainer can't safely handle your pup in the evaluation, it may be recommended to book a lesson package instead.
Our board and train is a total of 14 days. We count the day we pick up your pup and your pup's graduation lesson will be scheduled to take place on Day 14.
At Baxter’s Bootcamp, we firmly believe that a balanced training approach is the key to success for every dog. Balanced dog training teaches a dog desired behaviors using both reward-based techniques (dependent on every dog but can be things like treats, affection, ball, tug, frisbee, etc.) and aversive corrections. The purpose of the corrections is not to punish the dog, but rather to change the dog’s behavior. Corrections help to form clear communication and boundaries between each dog and handler. Rewards help to reinforce certain behaviors. Corrections will be administered on the main training tool we use called an E-collar. We will teach you more about this training tool in any of our programs.
Absolutely not. We love all our client's pups as if they're our own and would never want to hurt them. The E-collar is a muscle stimulating collar and it gives off the same sensation as a TENS unit that humans use in physical therapy. All Baxter's Bootcamp clients will be encouraged to feel what the stim feels like during any of our programs, so that they understand the sensation their dog is feeling. This collar is a wonderful communication tool between dog and handler and is even used by police officers for their working K9s.
This answer is entirely dependent on each dog since all dogs have different personalities. There's some dogs who graduate our programs and require very little or no correction with the collar, while others have to be held accountable all the time. Keep in mind, puppies definitely have to be held more accountable with the collar than adult dogs. It is always recommended the E-collar should be on whenever the client is home and the dog is being supervised. This is because you can use the collar to both enforce commands or correct any problematic behaviors in your home environment.
We do not offer visitation during our board and train program because we want there to be structure when your dog sees you for the first time in the graduation lesson. It also would be super confusing to your pup if you came to visit and your pup didn't leave with you. Fortunately, you'll be virtually present through the whole process by receiving daily updates with pictures and/or training videos!
This is entirely dependent on each dog. Dogs with similar personalities will be allowed to interact and play under trainer supervision. In addition, each training pup will be exposed to all the different dogs in the environments where we train daily. They won't be allowed to interact with these dogs, but instead taught to follow direction while dog distraction is present. This will teach your dog neutrality in all environments, which is what we aim to do.
Absolutely! You'll receive daily updates (they usually come around the evening time) with pictures and/or training videos of your pup along with how your pup did that day. This will give you the opportunity to watch them progress through the 2 week program.
To ensure the communication between dog and handler is seamless, each client will receive 1 follow-up lesson 2 weeks after graduation from the board and train. This lesson is included in the price of the board and train program. We can address any questions or issues during this lesson. The client is welcomed to purchase additional lessons at a discounted price if they feel like they need more guidance. However, we always will provide virtual assistance and encourage each client to reach out to us with any training questions.
Yes! We require your pup to be up to date with all vaccinations prior to your board and train date. This is to ensure the safety of your pup and any other dogs on the property! We travel to many different training locations throughout the 14 days, so we want to make sure your pup will be protected against anything in those environments.
Our 14 day board and train program, Bootcamp with Baxter, is $2,680. This includes the price of the $200 E-collar as well as your 2 week follow up lesson. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit to reserve your training date and that amount will go towards the total price of the board and train. The remaining $2,180 is due in full before your training date. We offer 4 week or 6 week lesson packages as well as puppy training lessons (for pups under 5 months). In addition, we offer 3 different discounts. We have a multi-dog discount that provides the client with 15% off any training program of the second dog they sign up. We have a military/first responder discount that provides the client with 10% off any program with proof of service. Lastly, we have a Baxter's Baby Cadets discount that provides 10% off any training program for the clients that complete at least 1 puppy lesson. Make sure to keep any eye on our social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram) because we occasionally offer seasonal discounts!
Yes, we have a cancellation policy. The $500 deposit used to reserve your date is non-refundable. However, if you cancel more than 1 week before your date, you will receive your $2,180 back. If you cancel less than 1 week before your date, Baxter's Bootcamp will keep a processing fee of 8% of your $2,100 and you will be refunded the remaining balance. If you need to change your board and train date, we are pretty flexible. Keep in mind, we only have a certain number of available dates and book out months in advance, so there may be a wait time if you need to change your date.
Absolutely! We ask that the client write down any dietary/medical needs for their pup and we can administer it while they are here for training.
It is recommended that you spend at least 30 minutes a day working commands with your pup for the best results. The more time, the better! Keep in mind that if your dog is living in the house with you, you are training him/her daily during all your interactions. Make sure to always enforce your boundaries and follow through until you get the desired obedience. Remember to keep training fun and rewarding. Consistency is key!
